Larry was born in Long Beach, CA and attended public schools and state universities there. Through a set of unusual circumstances, he was hired by a NYC handbag company as a design director, even though fashion and design had never been a part of his studies. Moving to NYC in 1983, he spent 20 years in the fashion industry before deciding to retire and look for another, less stressful career...just to keep busy.

In January of 2004, Larry arrived in Ithaca, having decided to attend massage school here. After graduating in June 2004 and gaining his NYS massage license, he realized that Ithaca was now his adopted home and he stayed to establish a massage practice here. Finding that a lucrative massage business could take years to establish, Larry decided to apply for a simple, no-stress job just to have health insurance and a small, steady income.

He took a civil service test and was soon inundated with interview requests from Ithaca public schools. He interviewed with BJM and was immediately offered a job there as a Senior Typist. 18 years later, he has no regrets for accepting this offer, and remains at BJM with no intentions of leaving or retiring any time soon.

Jeez Louise, how naive can one person get?
